Ira ISD Employees to See Pay Increase

By: Snyder Daily News
Updated: May 1, 2012
Ira ISD's contract employees will receive a pay increase following board action Monday night.

Trustees did not approve a dollar amount because the budget process has not started. Superintendent Jay Waller said that information should be available in May. He added that raises are coming from the district and are not the state step increases.

Also, the board accepted the resignation of four employees -- Bubba Edwards, Kaci Edwards, Jan Kruse and Sam Robertson. Waller said it was difficult for the board to accept the resignations.

"We're losing some really key people out here," he said. "All of these instilled fun, self-esteem and respect to our students. There will be some big shoes to fill. We are not going to be able to fill them. We will have to find a new pair of shoes and make sure they fit our community and our school. We wish each one of them the best."

Waller also noted that the board heard preliminary information concerning renovation projects. The superintendent said work to the gymnasium and cafeteria needs to be completed. No action was taken on the projects.
