You might have heard that this month is stroke awareness month, but i bet you didnt know that your heart health depends in part, on your teeth.

Dr. Christie Leedy is back and telling us how to keep a healthy smile while reducing your risk for heart disease. "What we found is obeseity, alcohol abuse, smoking, increase the risk of stroke and if you have diabeties or high blood pressure you have a higher incidence of stroke. Now the research shows that bacteria in the gum disease can actually double your risk of stroke over diabeties and is equal to high blood pressure. ", explains Leedy.

Leedy adds, "Regular dental check ups. It's not just a cleaning anymore. It really is a cleaning with a health screening."
