Updated: May 3, 2012
Today is the national day of prayer and the Abilene Interfaith Council celebrated by bringing representatives from the area of various faiths and religions to gather in harmonious prayer.

The national day of prayer is a time for people to come together and put aside differences of religion and pray together for the greater good.

"As a Buddhist I've been participating in the national day of prayer since 1996," says participant Noel Singleton. "I believe our nation is better blessed by a nice assortment of prayers."

The Abilene Interfaith Council has been holding this event since 2006.
