AISD Celebrates Employees' Service

Abilene ISD celebrated its employees' years of service today

The district honored staff who have reached milestones in their career with the district.  People with 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of service got a special gift depending on how long they've served. 85 people celebrated retirement this afternoon.

"Tonight is all about fun. You get to say congratulations and thank you to so many children who have spent a lifetime serving children. I think it's the most important and honorable profession in the entire world," said AISD superintendent Heath Burns.

This year the school district paid for all retirees' first year membership dues in the Texas Retired Teachers Association.
