Updated: May 4, 2012
Last night at about 9:45, Officer Joshua Ward was dispatched to a collision at the intersection of North 10th and North Willis Streets. During his investigation, a third party witness reported that a male driver of one of the involved vehicles had switched places with a female passenger right after the collision. Officer Ward's investigation revealed that upon his contact with the male subject, he smelled the strong odor of alcohol coming from the man. The subject was given standard field sobriety tests which he failed. The subject was arrested and taken to county jail where he provided breath samples. The results revealed the driver's blood alcohol content level to be 0.263 and 0.257. The man was arrested for driving while intoxicated with accident.

Just before midnight, Officer Edward Cutbirth was dispatched to a disturbance in progress in a parking lot in the 1800 block of South Clack Street. APD was advised that two men were fighting. When Officer Cutbirth arrived, a male subject that was involved in the disturbance was already detained. Other officers assisted in this disturbance call. His investigation revealed that the male subject was intoxicated and that the he had gotten into a physical altercation with another male subject. A friend at the scene was willing to take the subject home and the defendant was released into the care of the friend. Unfortunately, the male subject became upset before leaving and started yelling at people nearby. The subject had also allegedly jumped out of his friend's vehicle as it left the parking lot. Officer Cutbirth arrested the man for public intoxication.

At about 12:40 this morning, Sgt. Scott Hill was called out with a suspicious vehicle in an empty church parking lot in the 2500 block of South 27th Street. Officer Michael Garcia assisted with the call. A female subject was contacted and their investigation revealed that the woman was wanted on a theft warrant. Officer Garcia arrested the female subject and searched the subject's purse incident to arrest. He located five pills that were inside a belt buckle case. Those pills were determined to be Hydrocodone. During the search of the subject's vehicle more pills, identified as Carisprodol, were located. The subject did not have a prescription for these medications. The subject was arrested for her warrant and for possession of a controlled substance (Hydrocodone) and possession of a dangerous drug (Carisprodol).
