TxDOT to Install Emergency Crossovers on I-20

The Texas Department of Transportation will begin a project the week of May 7 to install emergency median crossovers along I-20 from mile marker 232 west of Roscoe to mile marker 318 near Putnam.
Crews will install 19 crossovers at strategic locations in the median to accommodate emergency vehicles. Work will begin on the west end of the project in Roscoe.
The entire project should be complete this summer, weather permitting. During construction, drivers should be prepared for brief lane closures where workers are installing the barriers.
When the project is complete, drivers should be aware that the crossovers are for emergency vehicles only.
Using the crossovers for non-emergencies is against the law and can result in a citation.
The project was awarded to Ryan Equipment, Inc., of Clyde for about $224,000.
