Updated: May 4, 2012
Construction to build Abilene's new splash park should begin within the next week.

According to its project manager, the Nelson Park splash pad will be finished by July.

They have been hard at work getting the final design finished, which will feature an underwater ocean theme.

Last year the "Together 2011" committee put together the plan for the $600,000 splash park.
