Carnival Takes Over Kohls Parking Lot

Updated: May 5, 2012
The Kohl's parking lot turned into a fun-filled carnival today.

It was all part of an asthma awareness event sponsored by Kohl's and Hendrick Medical Center.

Representatives from Kohl's handed the hospital a check for almost twenty thousand dollars to go toward medical gear needed in treating children with asthma.

It's all part of a yearly event where children can get free asthma screenings.

"Asthma is very prevalent," said Susan McQuade, from Hendrick Medical Center, "In Texas its estimated that close to one million children suffer from asthma so its very important that they get diagnosed at a young age so they get on the right medication."

Hospital representatives were also on hand to offer medical advice and information about asthma symptoms and treatment.

According to the Texas department of state health services, asthma affects more children than any other chronic illness.
