Updated: May 7, 2012
Friday evening at about 6:55, Officer Joseph Long responded to an armed subject call after APD was notified by a citizen that they had heard a firearm discharge at a residence in the 1100 block of Orange Street. Officers arrived to find that persons involved in this incident were still inside their residence. Officer Long's investigation revealed that a male suspect had allegedly threatened to kill his girlfriend after a verbal altercation and that a small caliber rifle had been discharged by the male suspect towards the girlfriend while they were in the living room. The male suspect was intoxicated and was placed under arrest. The rifle was seized. The suspect was arrest for Aggravated Assault Family Violence and an emergency protective order was submitted in conjunction with the suspect's arrest. There were no injuries reported.

Sunday evening at about 8:20, Officer Jesus Villarreal was dispatched to an armed subject call at a residential complex in the 5400 block of Laguna Drive. A calling party had alerted APD that a male subject had made sexual advances to their adult daughter and that the subject had a gun in his pocket. Officer Villarreal contacted the subject sitting in a stairwell. His investigation revealed that the man was in possession of a loaded handgun. The man was arrested for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

This morning at about 12:40, Officer Matthew Allen was dispatched to a call involving a motorist that was blocking the roadway and the off-ramp at US Hwy 83 at the South First Street exit. Officer Allen's investigation revealed that a male subject had struck several signs while operating his vehicle and that the subject's vehicle was disabled. A Brown County Deputy was the original calling party. Officer Allen determined that the subject had indicators of intoxication and the subject was given standard field sobriety tests which he failed. The subject was arrested and taken to county jail where the man provided breathe samples. Breath samples taken revealed the driver's BAC to be 0.229 and 0.224. The man was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) with accident and his charge was enhanced to a Class A misdemeanor because the subject had a previous conviction for DWI.
