SAN ANGELO - The ACU Wildcats had five players voted to the all-Lone Star Conference baseball team and one voted to the academic all-LSC team, both of which were announced recently in conjunction with the LSC Post-Season Baseball Tournament.

Selected by the league's eight coaches to the first team were senior third baseman Duncan Blades and junior second baseman Chuck Duarte, while junior catcher Rodge Macy and freshman outfielder Tyler Eager were voted to the second team.  Eager was also selected the league's Freshman of the Year, the fourth Wildcat to earn the honor following Brandon Sisco in 1992, Mark Ferry in 1993, and Willie Uechi in 2007.

Also, senior utility player Travis Schuetze was selected to the academic all-district team by league sports information directors.

Duarte hit a team-best .370 on the season with four home runs and 37 RBI going into Monday afternoon's game against Incarnate Word in the post-season tournament.  He had struck out only seven times in 173 official at-bats and made just seven errors while playing both second base and shortstop.

Blades hit .331 (second-best on the team) going into the tournament with 31 RBI and a team-best 28 walks.  Blades played a solid third base as well, finishing with 78 assists and only nine errors at the "hot corner."

Macy hit .286 on the season with 29 RBI and was a solid receiver behind the plate for the Wildcats.  Eager hit .320 with a team-best 50 runs scored and 63 hits, which were second on the team.  He also led the team in doubles with 17 and triples with five.
