RICHARDSON, Texas -- Concordia Texas catcher Collin Janssen, Mary Hardin-Baylor catcher Chris Joshlin, Texas Lutheran right-hander Brad Orosey and Texas-Dallas outfielder Chase Brown and right-hander Marvin Prestridge - all seniors - all earned top individual honors to highlight the 2012 American Southwest Conference baseball awards, following a division-only vote by head coaches, the conference office announced on Tuesday (May 8).

Janssen (Bryan, TX / Temple College) and Joshlin (Rogers, TX / RHS) shared the title of West Division Player of the Year. Janssen hit .329

division titles. Joshlin won the conference batting title with a .429 average. He hit three home runs, tied for the league lead with 17 doubles, walked 11 times and drove in 20 runs.

Orosey (Houston, TX / Cy-Creek HS) was named West Division Pitcher of the Year after going 8-3 with a 1.77 ERA and 74 strikeouts over 81 1/3 innings of work. Orosey, who recorded two shutouts, also became the conference's all-time wins and strikeout leader.

Brown (Arlington, TX / Blinn College) was named East Division Player of the Year after batting .413 with eight home runs, four triples, 14
doubles and 42 RBIs. He also walked 20 times and led the league with 112 total bases.

Prestridge (Forney, TX / FHS) was named East Division Pitcher of the Year after going 9-1 with a 3.15 ERA and 56 strikeouts over 80 innings of work. Prestridge, whose win total was tops in the East, issued only 11 walks.

Brown and Prestridge also fueled Texas-Dallas to a share of the East Division title.

Janssen, Joshlin, Orosey, Brown and Prestrdige were all first team selections in their respective divisions. Janssen and Joshlin split the position of catcher in the West Division.

Other West Division award winners included Sul Ross State junior designated hitter Dakota Dill (Spring, TX / Houston), who was named newcomer of the year after hitting .369 with five triples. Concordia Texas first baseman Kyle Rodriguez (Round Rock, TX / RRHS) batted .336
with 20 walks and was named freshman of the year. Janssen doubled as the division's sportsmanship athlete of the year.

Other East Division award winners included Texas-Tyler junior right-hander Derek Miller (Flint, TX / Tyler JC), who was tabbed newcomer of the year after leading the league with nine saves. Texas-Tyler right-hander Michael Blevins (Houston, TX / Mayde Creek HS) went 5-1 with two saves and Texas-Dallas catcher Micah Easterling (Denton, TX / Ponder HS) started 37 games and hit .306 to share top freshman honors. Mississippi College senior outfielder J'Marcus Brooks (Columbus, MS / CHS) was named the division's sportsmanship athlete of the year.

Concordia Texas (Tommy Boggs, Scott Shepperd, Clint Mokry, Carlos Perez, Cory Patton, Austin Boggs) earned the West Division coaching
staff of the year award. Texas-Dallas (Shane Shewmake, Kyle Starnes, Terry Tuck, Bart Alfred) was honored as top staff in the East Division.
