Officials Urge Travelers to Double Check 3rd Party Hotel Reservations

By: Natalie Ferrari
Updated: May 9, 2012
If your travel plans involve booking a hotel reservation through an online discount website, you may want to check your reservation through the hotel before heading out.

Booking hotel rooms through third-party websites such as Hotwire or Priceline has created problems for some travelers, especially on busy weekends.

Not only are some rooms double booked by the multiple reservations coming in, but some customers don't receive a confirmation number from the third-party site, causing the hotel to have to turn customers away due to no rooms being available.

Officials recommend contacting the hotel to ensure your reservation has been accepted.
