Cooper High's Derrick Randle is headed to Austin for Saturday's Class 5A State Track & Field meet.

Randle won the triple jump and came in 2nd at the Regional meet in the high jump, and he is looking forward to competing for a state title.

"I'm just going through everyday just thinking at this is going to be my last track meet for high school and I want to go out on a good note.  So I'm coming out, trying to practice hard and gain an extra one to two feet on my jumps for state." says Derrick Randle.

"I know he went as a sophomore and actually stood on the winners stand, but  that was at the 4A level and now he gets to go compete at a 5A level and I'm excited. I'm excited for him and I know he is excited." adds his coach Mark Wilson.

The Class 5A State Track meet starts on Saturday at the University of Texas. The rest of the classifications start on Friday.
