Scurry Co. Man Killed in Field Accident

A Scurry County man was killed Tuesday afternoon in an accident in a field near Ira.

Donald Crowder, 77, was dismantling a pump jack for scrap metal on CR 3125 near the Ira Cemetery when the A-frame of the jack collapsed. The frame struck Crowder in the head.

According to a witness at the scene, Crowder was killed instantly.

He was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Deborah Boyd.

"It was a tragic accident," said Scurry County Deputy Bryan Martinez.

Funeral services will be under the direction of Bell-Cypert- Seale Funeral Home.
