The Abilene High Eagles are less than a day from starting their area championship series with Lubbock Coronado.

The Eagles struggled through a 3 games series with Arlington Lamar last week to win the Bi-District Championship. This week they have an even steeper challenge. Coronado went to the State Tournament last year. It won't be easy, but they love a good challenge.

"We're just going to play our own game and at the end of the day, we're just going to do what we do and that's how we've always gotten where we are, and that's how we will continue to play." says Will Pearson.

"They went to state last year, and they have a few kids that  played in the Little League World Series, so we are focused more on working on everything. Key pitching, key defense and timely hitting." adds Jared Jacques.

The Eagles start their series with Lubbock Coronado at 6pm in Lubbock. Game 2 is Saturday at 1pm at Blackburn Field.
