"Probably the end of January 2012," that is around the time when  a particular cleaning solvent started disappearing from the shelves, but not for what you may think.

"You can put it on foil and smoke it, you can snort it, you can eat it, and he started to shoot it," says a woman who wishes to remain anonymous.

It is called Crystaal Bubbly. The intended purpose is cleaning hookah pipes, but people have started using it to get high instead.

She says, "A lot of people do it, that you would never think do it."

Including her boyfriend. She says it has gotten so bad that he will do just about anything to get the money to pay for this cleaner.

She continues, "People are stealing, lying, and threatening to kill to get it."

She says since her boyfriend started using it, his behavior has changed drastically, "He doesn't eat, he watches porn, just like the real speed."

She says this product is pretty easy to get a hold of. It can be purchased at smoke shops here in Abilene, and the interesting thing she told me about this drug substitute is that it gives the same effects as using the real thing, but it does not show up in a drug test.

"They get away with it. They go report to probation. They pass any test with it while they're on it," she says.

Which is why this person says it is time for the smoke shops selling this cleaner to be careful who they sell it to.

"They should think when a man comes in to get it, i sold this to him yesterday, how many pipes does he have to clean?"
