Local firefighters raised thousands of dollars in their annual fill the boot campaign over the weekend.

For three days, the Abilene and Dyess Air Force Base Fire Departments raised $40,000.

Despite the weather cutting one of their days in half and the firefighters being on active duty, they nearly reached their goal of $50,000.

Proceeds collected by the firefighters will be presented to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
