It may be something we all think is second nature, but it is often overlooked, or even forgotten about.

"We see it a lot where babies are not positioned in their car seats correctly," says Anne Pierce, owner of Kid's Village in Abilene.

When this is the case, your child runs the risk of being injured or even worse, killed.

George Spindler of Abilene Police Department says, "We know that statistically and historically that children who are in  car seats are far likely to not receive serious Injuries or death by virtue of that protection."

"I have seen the bad part, the not so fun part of car accidents," says Pierce.

Pierce has experience in car crash investigation. She now at Kid's Village, she makes it her mission to educate parents on car safety and how to protect their babies.

"So we start with the infant carrier a lot of children will then go into a convertible car seat. Both backwards facing and forwards facing," says Pierce.

After walking me through the various car seats for children, pierce demonstrates how it is all done.

Just like anything else, it will take some getting used to, for both the parents and the child.

"Just deal with that crying if you have to as your child gets used to being in that child seat because the alternative of serious injury or death is just something that we really don't want to deal with," says Spindler.
