Stan Hicks was a much more than a social science teacher. He touched the lives of many as a talented country western musician, UT football player and avid Longhorns fan.

Hicks spent the last twenty years of his life at Madison Middle School, and colleagues say he went above and beyond teaching his students about work ethic and character building.

The campus is now described as quiet and somber. Grief counselors are available to students and staff who are impacted by this tragedy. Friends of Hicks say his memorial will be full of music and sharing happy memories.

The funeral for Stan Hicks will be this Friday evening at 6 at the Red Dirt Pavilion in Buffalo Gap.
