APD: Officers Investigating Report of Vandalism at North Abilene Business

Just before 1:00 p.m. yesterday, Officer Shannon Couch was dispatched to a disturbance in progress call at a business in the 3200 block of Plum Street. APD had been notified that a male suspect, who had been circling the business in a vehicle, was throwing rocks at the calling party's business. Officer Couch's investigation revealed that the suspect is a known male that was upset with the business about paying his storage and towing fee. The man allegedly broke a window, causing approximately $200 in damage. The investigation continues.
Last night at about 10:15, Officer Jody Peavy was dispatched to a theft call at a business in the 4700 block of Southwest Drive. Officer's Peavy's investigation revealed that a loss prevention employee had contacted a female suspect for shoplifting. He learned that the suspect had selected and concealed merchandise and then proceeded past the last point of sale without paying. Merchandise valued at approximately $176 was recovered. The suspect was arrested for theft.
Early this morning at about 2:04, Officer David Cox contacted a motorist in the 2600 block of Buffalo Gap Road for traffic violations. Officer Cox contacted several occupants in the vehicle. A K-9 officer assisted in this traffic stop. During the investigation, the K-9 alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed a marijuana pipe where a male occupant had been sitting and the investigation revealed it belonged to the man. A search of the male subject further revealed the man to be in possession of more drug paraphernalia, including a used syringe, and a bottle containing medication for which the man did not have a prescription. The subject was arrested for possession of dangerous drug, to wit Promethazine; and for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Please remind all of your friends and loved ones that Texas law requires everyone to be properly restrained with seatbelts or a child safety seat when occupying a vehicle on public roadways.
