When is the last time you took a good hard look at the stars? Thursday, May 17th The Grace Museum is giving you a free opportunity to do just that!

"Museum matters is a lecture series that the Grace is doing, and we try to target three things: art, science, and history," explains Emerald Cardenas, with the Grace Museum.

This week's main focus will be science, which gives local residents a once in a lifetime chance to climb on the roof of one of Downtown Abilene's most historic buildings.

The event kicks off at 7 p.m. with special guest speaker, Dr. Tom Barnes, Superintendent of the McDonald Observatory in Fort Davis, Texas.

"He will be speaking on the history of the observatory and just a little bit about the partial eclipse happening this weekend," says Cardenas.

The Grace Museum will have telescopes provided, but star gazers are encouraged to bring their own gear if desired.
