In a town of just over 1,000 people, the loss of one is tough to take. Especially when the victim was just days away from graduating high school in a class of only fifteen.

"I just came from visiting with the seniors. Fitting them with caps and gowns. It should be a happy time in their life and they're hurting," says Darrian Dover, the Aspermont ISD Secondary School Principal.

Matthew Lindsey, or "Zinn", as he was known, was just 18-years-old when he died Tuesday morning.

Dover says, "what's so tragic about this is that he was just a good kid that was coming to school."

"Lindsey was driving along this stretch of roadway when DPS officials say his pick-up truck struck the back of a trailer, veering his car into oncoming traffic."

Lindsey's pick-up collided with an oversized load that sheared the top of his truck.

"It was just an unfortunate accident and really hard to deal with and difficult to grasp at this time," says Dover.

Jim Ward, the Stonewall County Tax Collector, knows Lindsey's family well.

"People here take it pretty hard," says Ward adding, "this is a close-knit community and it's a blow for all of us to lose this nice young man."

Everyone in the town, both young and old, are doing their best to cope with the situation that is now out of anyone's control.

"You never forget these people, you never forget the person you've lost, but you lean on god for his help," says Ward.
