An Abilene man is heading to prison after soliciting money door-to-door falsely claiming to be with the Boy Scouts.

Jerrod Shea Bonds told people he was with a Boy Scout troop here in Abilene that doesn't exist, and that he was collecting donations for a scout trip.

He made a mistake in May of last year when he cashed a donated check with his real identification.

He was arrested and will now spend 8 years in prison.
