"A life celebration of a man that was a great father, a great community leader, a great husband and a great inspiration to everybody that knew him," says Keith Grigsby, a friend of the Hicks family.

Which explains why there were hundreds of people who filled the Red Dirt Pavilion tonight.

"These folks came out to show their love for us in a way I could have never ever, even imagined," says Rene Hicks, Stan Hicks' wife.

Hundreds gathered for a night of song, prayer, and most importantly laughter.

Family, friends, and coworkers shared their fondest memories of Hicks.

"Anytime you saw him he had a smile on his face always wanting to do the best thing for anybody," says Grigsby.

Including the many he taught over the years.

Grigsby says, "The students he had interconnections with through Madison Middle School, they all loved him."

It was evident, as they took the stage to share some funny stories about their teacher and they are not alone.

Cory Prew says, "No matter what your ability was, as far as athletics, he would give you a chance."

Prew remembers how Hicks made kids on his little league team feel when he was younger, and that is what has inspired him.

"Right now I'm coaching and teaching and Stan was a big reason for that," Prew continues.

Loved ones know life will no longer be the same without Hicks, but he will always be remembered.

"We'll have our times, we'll have our moments where we won't be able to hold the composure that we've been able to do today but this was something that we wanted to do because this was the way he would have wanted to go out," says Rene Hicks

My heart goes out to the people that loved this man. Marcus Cass had a family that loved him too. He had friends that would use these same word to remember him. They have a first Christmas to look forward to without him. I hope everyone will keep both of these men in our thoughts, and families in our prayers.
