Zoo Honors Dyess at Zoolute

By: Kristin Anderson
Updated: May 21, 2012
The zoo hosted its annual Zoolute to Dyess. Military members, veterans and members of the National Guard enjoyed free admission all monring. There was also free food and drinks, special speakers and games for the children. Zoo officials host the event to give military families a day to relax and enjoy together.

"Just a way to kind of honor them and give them a chance to take a break, be together, enjoy the place," said Zoolute chair Ronda Hillis. "They're here for just a few short years anyways, try to make it a good day to remember while they're here."

The event has been held almost every year since 1989, and will be held again next year.
