The Abilene School District says they are planning to do more when it comes to reaching out to parents and the community. First, they placed Mary Helen Munoz as the communication and parent relations officer. Part of that two-way communication is the district's newsletter. The district emails a link to the newsletter every two weeks.

Additionally, some AISD parents say the district has already taken some great strides in parent relations when it comes to grades and parent-teacher communications. However, district says it still have a great deal of work to do. Currently the district is working on a phone calling system and other ways to contact parents through today's technology.
