Snyder Chamber Board to Consider HOT Fund Requests

Eight groups will make presentations during the 5:30 p.m. meeting with each request given 10 minutes to address the board.
The largest request is $10,000 by organizers of the John Wayne Film Festival, which is scheduled for Aug. 31 through Sept. 2. The festival received $10,000 last year from the chamber.
Chamber officials will request $8,500 for the summer concert series. No acts have been booked for the series, which could be held in May, June and July.
The inaugural Bullies for Autism event, scheduled for July 21 in Towle Park, is seeking $5,600.
The Scurry County Rodeo Association is seeking $5,000 for the July 19-21 event. Each of the past two years, chamber board members have allocated $5,000 for the event.
The Pops Memorial Junior Golf Tournament, which is scheduled for Aug. 10-12, is seeking $5,000.
The Coliseum staff is seeking $3,500 for improvements while WTC's volleyball program is requesting $3,000 for the Sept. 7-8 tournament.
The Scurry County Museum is seeking $900 to help fund a Texas Ranger speaker event.
Tentatively scheduled for July 7, the event will be part of the Texas Justice exhibit.
During the regular board meeting, directors will discuss the annual HOT report which was presented to the Snyder City Council. Also, Melissa Elam, executive director, will discuss a budget amendment request for the White Buffalo Bikefest weekend.
The presentations and board meeting will be held in the boardroom at the chamber office.
