It's the VIP list for parents.

With summer approaching Misty McQuade has had to start a waiting list for parents to get their kids into her daycare- His Little Angels Day Care on Buffalo Gap Rd.

"It's been pretty busy, people have been calling every day, lots of calls," she said.

She already takes some 140 kids at the center and only has one spot left for one specific age group- the rest will have to wait their turn.

"When they call we try to get them in if we can, if the spots are filled then we send them to the waiting list, but the waiting list is 9-10 months long," said McQuade.

Closing day cares like the St. James Child Development centers hasn't helped.

That's added more of a need for parents in the Key City to find someone to care for their child while they're at work.

Some parents however, have gone on to other options.

"Home day care," said Abilene resident Melissa Davis, "You get one on one, there's not as many kids."

Davis says its actually about $30 a child cheaper than the regular daycare.

She's stuck with it ever since.

"I couldn't afford to stay home until an open spot was available," said the mother of two.

There's no need for McQuade to worry however, parents opting for this option haven't seemed to stop business .

She's still working hard to try to open up more spots for the many parents waiting to get in.

"Wish we could build on so that we could fit all the kids that need daycare in  but unfortunately we don't have the space available right now," she said.
