Hospital workers called Abilene firefighters to report that there was smoke in the pediatric wing of the hospital at about 9:45 this morning.
Firefighters rushed to the building and determined that the smoke was coming from the hot tar being used to repair the roof of an adjacent hospital building.
The patients were not evacuated, and officials say the smoke and unpleasant smells were not a threat.
