Newly hired Early Police Investigator Micheal McCoy and Officer Douglas Hurt were administered the Oath of Office and Law Enforcement Oath during Tuesday's Early City Council.

According to Early Chief of Police David Mercer, both men have taken some time off from law enforcement before returning to EPD.

McCoy has 32 years of law enforcement experience having been the Chief Deputy of the Brown County Sheriff's Office, with the EPD, and has been on the drug task force working as an undercover narcotics officer in the past.

Mercer said Hurt is returning to law enforcement after some time spent in ministry. Hurt has been employed with EPD, BCSO and the Midland Police Department for a total of 11.5 years of law enforcement experience.

"Both of these officers bring a wealth of knowledge and some integrity and some good honor to our force," said Mercer who explained that EPD is now at full strength.
