One Big Country Museum Honors World War II Veterans

A small town museum spent Sunday afternoon sharing their World War II memorabilia in honor of those veterans who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The Anson-Jones Museum opened their doors at 2pm Sunday afternoon and remained open until 6pm as part of their Memorial Day activities. The museum had a number of weapons on display, as well as uniforms that were worn by veterans, including a pair of pants belonging to a "Prisoner of War." The museum wanted to hold this special opening to honor and remember those who gave so much to our country.

"A lot of people have forgotten a little bit, it has become a 3-day weekend instead of why we are doing this" says Kay Spears, President of the Anson-Jones Museum's board of directors. "People want to honor it, the Memorial Day weekend. They want to honor the soldiers."

This isn't the only event the museum has planned. Starting at 8am Monday morning (5/28), they will be hosting their first Anson Memorial Day 5k Walk and Fun Run.
