"We came out here to pay our respects to the men and women who have served our country and who've died," says Natalee Bradshaw.
It was a holiday history lesson.
She says, "We talked about what soldiers do and how soldiers have done that for us."
Bradshaw wanted to make sure her family did not misunderstand what today was all about.
"We plan on barbequing and relaxing and having a good time but we didn't want the day to pass without remembering the true significance of Memorial Day," says Bradshaw.
Although the heat may have gotten in the way just a bit, Bradshaw knows all three of her kids will have learned something new today.
Her son says, "We thank from all of us for the soldiers who have died or serving for us."
