The annual Senior Jamboree serves as a way for senior citizens around the community to keep in shape.
"Health and fitness is just something they all need," said Julie Sartor, the program supervisor for the Ctiy of Abilene's Senior Citizens Services.
Seniors learned all the how-to's of nutrition.
"How to learn how to make sauerkraut, whole grains, how to cook with whole grains and things for a healthier diet," said Sartor.
Its all a preview of what each of the five public senior centers around Abilene offer each week.
From informational forums to calorie burning sessions- its become part of a daily routine for many seniors.
"I always do the exercise and I love that cause it helps my body," said senior Ovala Champan.
Which is why the Senior Jamboree has become the one day event for the community to give back to each and every one of them.
"They bring so much to the community they volunteer so this is a way to have something for them," said Sartor.
