You might not think of them as the most cuddly of pets, but there are many people who would consider an Ornate Frog the perfect companion.

"Frog's prefer moister environments," explains Joy Harsh, Education Curator with the Abilene Zoo.

One of the other important distinctions between frogs and toads, is a not-so-bumpy skin. As a pet, Harsh recommends keeping them mainly for display, not so much to hold.

"If you got them as a pet, you'd get an enclosure for them and just kind of put them in it and just watch them," she explains. "They're not really one of the pets that you handle a lot."

The good news is, the Ornate Frog doesn't require much care. All you have to do, according to Harsh, is "keep them moist and keep them fed."

So what does an Ornate Frog eat? Basically anything that will fit inside the amphibian's huge mouth.

"He gets fed small pinky mice at the Zoo," says Harsh. "They'll eat crickets. Some bigger frogs, will actually try to eat the smaller frogs. They have a really big appetite."

By the way, because we know you're all wondering, while we had her in studio, we decided to bust the whole wart-toad myth. According to Harsh, there's no substance
