This race has been considered one of the most controversial in Taylor County in recent history. With lively debates and voluntary drug tests taken, voters had a lot to consider at the polls.

Tuesday night we were able to get the reactions to the sheriff race results.

We caught up with incumbent Les Bruce, who says the outcome of this race will not distract him from doing his job.

Bruce says, "We're going to continue being positive, we're going to continue producing at the Taylor County Sheriff's office. Tomorrow is Wednesday and we need to be at work at 8 o'clock."

We also spoke to candidate Ricky Bishop tonight, who will be facing Les Bruce again, in a run-off.

It was a celebration for Bishop, now that he has one more shot at the position of Taylor County Sheriff, he is not taking it lightly. He is already preparing his strategy to get the outcome he has been hoping for.

Bishop says, "The voters are getting their voice out there and they're ready to see some things change. I'm ready to get out there and talk to some more of the public and try to educate them more on some of the issues within the department and how i plan on trying to make the department better."

Candidate Art Casarez says he entered the race with no expectations and is content with how the election has turned out thus far.

Casarez says, "I didn't have any expectations at all. I believe I served my purpose. I believe both people that are still left in the running have some answers for my followers."

It may have been a long race, but it is still not over.

Since there was no majority in tonight's election, there will be a run off on July 31st between Les Bruce and Ricky Bishop.
