It was a waiting game at the Abilene Regional Airport this morning. Folks who were planning a trip to Dallas found out that the weather had other plans for them.

"We are headed to Dallas, and I understand there is a storm there and we may be delayed. But, the main thing is that everybody is safe", says traveler, Laura Williams.

Airport officials tell us that many flights have been diverted from Dallas Fort Worth to Abilene. Director of Aviation, Don Green, tells us, "There are over thirty flights that have been diverted to various aircrafts that serve the DFW region".

Green also told us the airport was receiving constant calls from flights that needed to be diverted to Abilene.

But until further notice, people are doing their best to pass the time. Scott Bolinder dined at the new airport restaurant, Sweet Celebrations. "Well, you know there are a few things that you just can't control. One of them is the weather. We're just glad we landed before we ran out of fuel. That's a good thing!", exclaimed Bolinder.

Overall, the packed airport was full of anxious travelers, who were pleased that safety was the top priority.

Since this morning, the stormy conditions at DFW let up, and many were able to get to their destinations within a few hours.
