"Every day I felt really scared and nervous. And like, even on my birthdays it was kind of hard, because I was getting bullied even on my birthday," said Hailey Waldon.

Eleven year old Hailey told her mother she was being bullied at school.

"She had had her glasses ripped off her face. And the one bully and a couple other boys were throwing her glasses back and forth, you know, keeping them from her and she had been hit and constantly taunted and tormented by this same child," said Hailey's mother, Lindsey.

Lindsey brought it to the attention of the school district and she said she didn't get the answers she wanted right away, so she began to home school her daughter.

"When we pulled her out, she was just so overwhelmed by the situation, I think she was kind of shell shocked," said Lindsey. "She didn't want to be in any school. It was like she didn't want to risk going through that again."

"We're here to teach the kids, and the kids aren't going to be able to learn if you've got an environment that's not conducive to learning. And if they're scared, that's something that's going to be an interference," said Roby superintendent Heath Dickson.

Superintendent Dickson said that after he found out about bullying at Roby schools, including Hailey's case that a new bully prevention system was put into place.

"Once we had heard, and i made some phone calls to the parents," said Dickson. "And some of them said that this was going on and that was when I realized that, 'hey we need to do something about this.'"

Even though the new system has shown good results so far, Hailey hopes that no other kid has to go through bullying like she did.

"I feel better and happy now, because no one can bully me here," she said. "And so I feel safer."

Superintendent Dickson stressed the importance of communication from the parents, that they need to talk to the school if their child is being bullied.

It's sad that kids are doing that to other kids... When a kid stands up for them self for being bullied and ends up getting into trouble for protecting them self is wrong, ppl see how much bulling affects kids and when you try do press charges they say you cant until u have proof. Wat is it gonna take for one kid to get hurt to believe them, by then it will be too late!!
