Early this morning at about 12:20, Officer Andrew Valdez contacted a motorcyclist in the 1700 block of Park Avenue after observing the driver operating at a high rate of speed on North Mockingbird Lane. When Officer Valdez contacted the male driver, he smelled the odor of alcohol coming from him and observed indicators of intoxication during his investigation. The driver participated in only one of the field sobriety tests before refusing to conduct any others. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and taken to jail where he provided breath samples, which revealed the driver's BAC to be 0.221 and 0.228.

At about 1:00 this morning APD was notified of an alarm activation from a business in the 1500 block of South First Street. Officers were dispatched and converged on the business to find two suspects on the premises. Both male suspects fled on foot after seeing a uniformed officer. Officer Cory Davis caught up to one of the fleeing suspects and arrested him. The other suspect could not be located. Officer Gabe Thompson assisted in this investigation. This investigation revealed that two male suspects had entered the fenced premises of the business and had removed and staged property they were in the process of stealing. The investigation also revealed that the target of the theft included aluminum automotive rims. The recovered stolen property was valued at approximately $225. The arrested suspect was charged with theft of aluminum material and evading detention. This investigation continues.

At about 1:20 this morning, Officer Joshua Ward was dispatched to a fight in progress at a residence in the 1200 block of Sycamore Street. APD was notified that a fight between a male and female was occurring. The investigation revealed that upon police arrival, there was a large group of people gathered at the scene and that a male subject attempted to flee the area. This subject was determined to be the suspect of an assault and he was detained. The investigation further revealed that the male subject had gotten into a verbal altercation with his fiance and that it escalated into physical violence when the subject allegedly choked and slapped her. The victim was in good condition with what appeared to be minor scrapes and abrasions. The man was arrested for assault family violence and an emergency protective order was requested by the victim.
