Woman Reaches Settlement with Local Businesses After Serious Accident

Updated: June 1, 2012
The Ford Motor Company, Discount Tire and Avis Lube in Abilene have settled out of court after being sued by a Taylor County woman who is now a quadriplegic after a 2009 rollover.

Laurie Anderson rolled her Ford SUV in 2009 while traveling east on FM 18 just west of Clyde. The wreck was caused when her left rear tire failed.

She sued the Ford Motor Company who settled out of court early in the case, but she also sued Avis Lube for failing to check her tires when she had her car serviced, and Discount Tire in Abilene for failing to recommend four tires when her husband took her vehicle in for two front tires.

Discount Tire was the last to settle just this week. The case was set to go to trial on Monday in Abilene.

Each settlement was undisclosed.
