A Dyess airman was pronounced dead early Sunday morning after an accident at Lake Fort Phantom.

Dyess Air Force Base reports that an active-duty airman assigned to the 7th Bomb Wing Security Forces died late Saturday night.

Abilene police say the Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Warden will release the results of a water fatality report, since they have jurisdiction over public waterways.

Dyess officials say alcohol is not suspected in the accident, and that the man was not wearing a life vest.

The identity of the man will not be released until 24 hours after the next of kin has been notified, according to a release issued by 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs at Dyess.
