On Saturday at about 6:50 p.m., Officer Chris Collins was dispatched to a call involving drug use in progress at a hotel in the 700 block of East Highway 80. A calling party had notified APD dispatch of the alleged drug use and that the persons inside the room were using a comforter to mask the odor of marijuana coming from the room. Officer Collins arrived and contacted two subjects inside the hotel room. One of those subjects, a male, provided an identification that could not be verified. Upon further investigation, Officer Collins learned that the male subject had lied about his identity. A records check confirmed that the male subject had four outstanding municipal warrants. The male subject was arrested for his warrants and for failure to identify.
Last night at about 9:00, Officer Martin Walker was dispatched to a criminal trespass in progress call at a business in the 1600 block of Highway 351. A loss prevention employee had notified APD dispatch that a known female suspect was in the store and that the suspect had been recently warned not to return. Officer Walker confirmed that a warning had been issued to the suspect. He arrived at the store and identified the suspect after contacting her. Officer Walker then advised the suspect that she was under arrest. The suspect started to remove items from her pockets and began placing them inside a bag being carried by a male companion. Officer Martin stopped her from transferring any further items and conducted a search of the transferred items. During the search of a wallet that came out of her pocket, a small plastic baggie was located inside the wallet that contained a white crystalline substance. That substance later tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. During a search of the suspect's person, another small baggie containing a white crystalline substance was located inside her baseball cap. The female suspect was arrested for criminal trespass and for felony possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
