Woman Leaves Infants in Pickup, Gets Detained for Shoplifting

Police added child endangerment charges to a woman who was being arrested for shoplifting while her infant children were left alone in her car.
A witness called police after seeing the children in a pickup at Walmart in north Abilene on Friday afternoon.
Police say 27-year-old Amber Marie Hamel left the two infants in the running, unlocked pickup while she went inside.
While investigating the call, the responding officer was notified that the children's mother had been detained inside the store for shoplifting.
Hamel was charged with felony child endangerment.
