Volunteers have already unpacked over 2,000 boxes of books for the 23rd Annual Friends of the Library book sale.
Friends of the Library have been setting up at the Civic Center for this weekend's event, hoping to not only raise money for the Abilene Public Library, but also to help promote literacy within the community.
"It generates more books in the community, it helps people that they can find books of quality that they want to read and help," says co-chairperson Bob Milstead.
The sale begins Thursday for Friends of the Library members, and is open to the public Friday through Sunday.
