ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's basketball head coach Julie Goodenough Friday announced the signing of former Central Wyoming College standout Jacki Nicholson. The 5-10 guard/forward from Sutherland, New South Wales, Australia will officially join the Wildcats later this summer.

"I'm thrilled to have Jacki as part of our women's basketball family," said the first-year ACU coach. "She had a great JuCo career and has college experience at several different positions on the court. With her scoring abilities and proven leadership skills, we are counting on her to have an immediate impact."

As a sophomore, Nicholson helped lead the Rustlers to the 2012 NJCAA Region IX semifinals behind 13.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, and was later honored as an all-tournament and all-region selection. The region team was comprised of just 15 players from the 17 eligible teams located throughout Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado and Montana.

Central Wyoming head coach Serol Stauffenberg said Nicholson is the kind of player that makes everyone around her better.

"Jacki meant everything to Central Wyoming College, and I'm excited for both her and ACU," Stauffenberg said. "She was a versatile enough player that she filled in at the post her first year and then was moved to point in her second year and made all-region. She has a great touch from 23 feet and in, sees the floor well, and gets the ball to open people."

Nicholson, a 2006 graduate of Woolooware High School, is equally anxious to become a Wildcat and can't wait for the upcoming season to start.

"I chose ACU to experience a different culture and be a part of a tight-knit community," Nicholson said, "and I believe under Coach Goodenough and (assistant) Coach (Jarod) Newland that I can bring out my best basketball and be part of a very successful program."
