Body Found after Overnight Homicide in North Abilene

Police have confirmed a man was shot to death in North Abilene early Sunday morning.

A passerby found body around 11:30 a.m. in an alley off N. 14th and Plum, according to officials.

The man, identified as 44-year-old Dan Nickerson, Jr., was last seen by his girlfriend around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Police believe the shooting occurred around 3 a.m.

The Abilene resident lives about a block from the location where his body was discovered.

Officials will have autopsy results by early this week. They have not yet released how many shots were fired, or where the injury was sustained.

There is also no word on suspects at this time.
