"It never did dawn on me about Dan getting shot and stuff," said Linda Nickerson, aunt of Dan Nickerson, who was victim in Sunday morning's homicide.

Linda describes what she saw when she had to identify her nephew's body.

"Laying there, looked like they shot him right here and he fell backwards. Then he had a shot up by his ear there. A big hole blown on the side of his ear," she recalled.

The news of Dan's death has been hard for the entire family, mostly because of the shock that something like this happened to Dan.

"Dan ain't never harm nobody.  He stayed to hisself, he was always by hisself. And when i see him, he was laughing, jolly and he was everything," she said. "But now, i can't bring him back."

Linda also said that she and Dan were close, and that she was supposed to see him yesterday.

"Me and him used to hang together. He used to tell me, 'come on auntie, let's go,'" she described. "He was supposed to come over here Sunday to BBQ with me, that was the last time I seen Dan. "

She said it's also hard to digest, because he was so likeable. And that it's hard to imagine someone would shoot him over any type of dispute.

"He was a person you could get along with. And like i said, if you had any type of trouble with him, you could go to Dan and say, 'dan, blah blah blah.' and he would've straightened it out. But like  I said, I don't know why they killed him," said Linda.

Funeral services have been set for 2pm on Saturday at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
