Today we spoke with a few of Nickerson's family members, one being his aunt, who told us at this point, she's heartbroken and frustrated about all the unanswered questions.

The neighborhood is quiet today after the first murder of the year. While Abilene Police continue to investigate, the family of Dan Nickerson is mourning the loss of a loved one.

Linda Nickerson is his aunt, "He was a good guy. He was my nephew, my oldest brother's son", says Nickerson.

Anger, confusion, and sorrow plague the Nickerson family, as they wonder why someone would do this. "I pray whoever did this, I hope they bring him to justice. Dan never harmed nobody. He stayed to himself, was always by himself. And when I saw him, he was laughing, jolly, and everything. And now I can't bring him back", says Nickerson.

Linda Nickerson tells us she was called to identify the body of her nephew, and says he had been shot three times near his head. Now the family is desperate for answers.

"All I can say is who ever did it, please come forward and tell who killed him. That's all we're asking for", says Nickerson.

Family and neighbors of Nickerson tell us he was a sweet, caring man, and never deserved to go out this way. Now, family members are planning a memorial service for this Saturday at 2pm, at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Brownwood.

APD continues to encourage anyone with information on the homicide to contact Crime Stoppers right away. We are still awaiting the official autopsy report.

I am so sad for your family. My brother was murdered in Abilene a year and a half ago. I know you want answers, but feel like they will never come. You are hurt, angry and want to lash out. I TRULY understand. There is NOTHING that will ease the pain. I can tell you that as we still wait for the man who shot my brother to go to trial, there are still no answers. It becomes frustrating and painful everyday that there is no justice. I will pray for your family. God Bless
