Abilene's Proctor Named To IMG Academies

Bradenton, Fla. (June 11, 2012) - Five players from the IMG Academy baseball program have been invited to attend the 2012 Perfect Game National Showcase in Minneapolis, Minn., June 14-18. Rising seniors 1B/P Brett Hanewich and 1B Manny Ramirez, Jr.; and rising juniors SS/P Cameron Varga, P Sam Proctor and OF Andrew DiLacqua each have an opportunity to demonstrate their skills at the nation's most prestigious talent showcase.

Abilene's Sam Proctor (6-foot-0, 190-pounds) chose to attend IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla. to develop as a player and pursue his baseball dreams. He was given a honorable mention as a Perfect Game Underclassmen All-American in 2012, and looks to contribute heavily on the 2012-13 squad.
 
Director of the IMG Academy baseball program Ken Bolek said, "These five players weren't just given an invite to the National Showcase - they earned it. Their work ethic and commitment to improving at this game, not only during this past season, but through their entire young careers, is going to carry them a long way. I'm proud to see their hard work recognized by such a great organization."
 
The Perfect Game National Showcase has earned its prestigious status among talent showcases. Ten of the first 13 selections in the 2012 MLB Draft attended the National Showcase in 2011, and 17 high school players from the 2010 National Showcase were selected in the first round of the 2011 Draft. Perfect Game reports to all 30 Major League franchise scouting departments, and more than 1,500 universities around the nation. Players receive a comprehensive scouting evaluation and the chance to compete against the nation's top high school and amateur players.
