Leadership Abilene Applications Now Being Accepted

By: News Release
Updated: June 12, 2012
Leadership Abilene applications are now being accepted.

Leadership Abilene was founded in 1979 and is sponsored by the Abilene Chamber of Commerce. It is a program designed to develop community leaders. Its objectives are to identify and motivate potential leaders, acquaint them with community needs, opportunities and challenges; offer alternate processes for dealing with those concerns; and challenge the potential leaders to community involvement.

The Leadership Abilene program develops these leadership skills and the community knowledge of the participants through a series of informative sessions. Once a month from September through May, the class meets to learn about Abilene's particular strengths and challenges and to develop leadership skills.

The program is limited to 34 participants from a diversified group of business, professional, government, educational, religious and civic organizations.

Applications may be picked up at the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, 174 Cypress, Suite 200 (Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) or call 677-7241. Applications are also available on the Chamber of Commerce website or by e-mailing Vicky Smedley at vsmedley@abilenechamber.com.

Application must be returned by 5 pm, August 3, 2012.
