Webcast: Abilene Couple Escapes New Mexico Wildfire

A well-known Abilene couple had to escape from the raging wildfire near Ruidoso, New Mexico last weekend.

Wayne and Rita Roy report that they and their two grandsons were awakened by smoke in their cabin last weekend.

Roy is a former general manager of KTAB and now works in the development office at Hardin-Simmons University.

He says sheriff's officers were there to guide them and other tourists to safety from the fire, which has burned thousands of acres near Ruidoso.
